Getting Started
You should receive your Teacher Book It! Kit by mid-July.
You'll want to take time to look through it. It will include
a teacher's guide and program
materials ».
First - Set
the tempo in your classroom
- The Book It! program starts August this year and ends January of the following year, and is available
to grade 1 students only in private schools.
- Begin by setting monthly reading goals for
each student in your class. Goals can be set by minutes, pages,
or books read.
- Send the parents letter with flyers, parent
verification slips, recognition card and bag tags to explain
how Book It! works for them and their child.
- As soon as the reading goal is met, present the student
with a Pizza Award Certificate.
Second - Hit
the notes at Pizza Hut
- Students can take the certificates to a participating
Pizza Hut restaurant, where they are congratulated by the
manager or service team and given a free one-topping Buddy
Pan Pizza.
- On the first visit, students are recognized
with a Book It! sticker placed on their recognition card with
the manager's signature and remarks.
- On subsequent visits, students are given the
same deal for meeting their reading goals.
- There is no purchase requirement and the pizza can be taken
to go. Substitutions are available and vary by location.
Third - Get
in tuned with an All-Star Certificate and Medallion
- If students meet the reading goals all six
months of the program, Pizza Hut will award them with an All-Star
Reader Certificate and a Medallion.
