First - Know what the goal is


• Goals vary by ability so make sure you know what the goal
  is for your child and if your child will be reading with you as
  a partner or independently.
  
• Goals are verified by the teacher. Find out if there is a tracking
  sheet to use and when it is due.


Second - Set aside the time for reading at home


• Read as a family - at the same time and in the same place
  every night.
  
• Be a role model for your child - make sure they see you reading
  and know that you read for both information and pleasure.


Third - Celebrate reaching goal


• Praise your child for reaching the goal - tell them how proud you
  are of their accomplishment!
